The Minutes of the last Meeting are read and confirmed.

SERVICES EXCLUSIVE OF ESTABLISHMENTS.

Works and Buildings.

(1.) Read: A letter from the Surveyor General requesting a re-vote of $10,933.35 for

Police Station. the New Water Police Station.

The Committee recommend that the vote be approved, as only $24,066.65 have been expended out of the $35,000 voted for the work in the Estimates of 1883, which leaves a balance of $10,933.65, the sum now asked to be voted.

(2.) Read: The papers relative to the present condition of the old Protestant Cemetery. The Committee recommend that the question of removing the remains from the Cemetery and of improving the present state of the burial ground should be deferred, and that in the meantime the Surveyor General should keep the place in order.

Roads, Streets and Bridges.

(3.) Read: A letter from the Surveyor General, requesting a vote of $2,500 to repair Cape d'Arular the Cape d'Aguilar Lighthouse Road.

The Committee recommend that the sum be voted, as it is important that the road in question, which forms the approach to the Lighthouse, should be kept in a proper state of repair.

(4.) Read: A letter from the Surveyor General, requesting a vote of $2,000 for the resumption of a strip of land near Causeway Bay.

The Committee recommend that the vote of $2,000 be approved in order to secure a wider foot road continuously from the Praya East to Whitfeild Station, as it is desirable to make the roads of the Colony as wide as possible in view of its increasing population.

Miscellaneous Services.

(5.) Read: The Printers and other accounts in connection with the Public Works Enquiry Commission.

The Committee recommend that the vote of $904.63 be approved.
